UAE and Nigeria Presidents hold talks on deepening cooperation

Sharjah 24 – WAM: UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation and exploring new opportunities in areas including the economy, trade, development, and renewable energy, in support of shared aims and mutual interests.

Meeting during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week

The talks took place during President Tinubu’s working visit to the UAE, where he is participating in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. His Highness welcomed the Nigerian President and expressed hope that the visit would further strengthen bilateral ties and open broader prospects for cooperation.

Regional, international, and sustainability discussions

The two leaders exchanged views on regional and international developments and highlighted the importance of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week as a global platform for dialogue and international cooperation on sustainable solutions to shared challenges. Both sides reaffirmed sustainability as a joint priority and their commitment to deepening cooperation in this field.

Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement

The meeting addressed the significance of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) expected to be signed during the visit, describing it as a major milestone in strengthening economic relations between the two countries.

Strengthening UAE–Nigeria relations

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to building relations based on trust, mutual respect, and cooperation, underscoring the importance of ties with Nigeria within the UAE’s broader engagement with African nations.

Shared commitment to growth and prosperity

President Tinubu reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with the UAE in support of both countries’ development priorities and the aspirations of their peoples for growth and prosperity.
