SCC confirms ongoing efforts to strengthen family stability

Sharjah24: The Family Affairs Committee of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening family stability and cohesion across the Emirate of Sharjah during a meeting held as part of the Council’s third ordinary session of the 11th legislative term at the Council’s headquarters.

The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Saeed Matar bin Hamed Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Committee, in the presence of His Excellency Rashid Ghanem Al Shamsi, Rapporteur of the Committee, and committee members Abdullah Ali Al Badawi Al Hosani, Abdullah Rashid bin Madan Al Ketbi, Abdullah Salem bin Trish Al Kaabi, Mohammed Al Alawi Al Dhahouri, and Humaid Obaid Al Hammoudi, as well as Her Excellency Halima Al Owais, Vice Chairman of the SCC; Sheikha Al Dhaneen Al Naqbi; Dr Hind Saleh Al Hajri; members of the SCC and the General Secretariat of the Council; and Sumaya Mohammed Jassim, Secretary.

Leadership support and policy development

Al Tunaiji emphasised that the committee operates within a strategic vision, guided by the directives of Sharjah’s wise leadership, to serve families and reinforce social stability. The committee also commended the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, in supporting families and promoting cohesion and stability.

Members reviewed proposals to develop family-focused policies and programmes in line with the Council’s role in advancing sustainable social development and improving quality of life.

Addressing youth marriage challenges

The committee discussed pressing social phenomena, including the reluctance of young men and women to marry, highlighting the need for research-based strategies, awareness programmes and engaging media content to promote positive perceptions of marriage and family life.
