Consultative Council Committee Visits Al Thiqah Club

Sharjah24: As part of its work during the third ordinary session of the eleventh legislative term, the Family Affairs Committee of the Sharjah Consultative Council visited Al Thiqah Club for Disabled at its headquarters in Sharjah City.

The visit aimed to review the club’s achievements and to learn about its future sporting and cultural plans and programmes. During the meeting, key initiatives currently implemented by the club were presented, alongside discussions on upcoming projects aimed at empowering people with disabilities and enhancing their active participation in community life.

 

Official Meeting and Attendance

 

The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Saeed Mattar bin Hamed Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Committee, in the presence of committee members Abdullah Rashid bin Maadan Al Ketbi, Abdullah Salem bin Traish Al Kaabi, and Humaid Obaid Al Hammoudi. Also attending were Her Excellency Halima Al Owais, Vice Chairperson of the Sharjah Consultative Council, Sheikh Al Dhnain Al Naqbi, a Council member, and representatives from the Council’s General Secretariat.

 

The delegation was received by His Excellency Dr Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of the Board of Al Thiqah Club for Disabled, along with board members Khalifa Al Shaer Al Suwaidi and Noura Al Midfa, and Mohammed Abdullah Al Qaed Al Hammadi, Acting Executive Director of the club.

 

Services, Facilities and Community Impact

 

Both sides welcomed the meeting and highlighted its importance in strengthening ongoing communication between the Council and community institutions. The committee reviewed the club’s specialised sports services, therapeutic and rehabilitation programmes, cultural and artistic initiatives, and inclusive community activities, in line with the Council’s oversight role.

 

The visit concluded with a tour of the club’s facilities, where members reviewed available resources and services, reaffirming the Sharjah Consultative Council’s commitment to supporting institutions that serve and empower people with disabilities across the emirate.
