Volunteers play a pivotal role in supporting the organisation of the event and supervising a number of heritage workshops and programmes included in the activities scheduled at the Heritage Village in the Heart of Sharjah.
The centre’s participation witnessed remarkable volunteer involvement, with teams working across specialised roles covering various organisational and supervisory tasks. This reflects the readiness of volunteers and their vital role in the success of major events attracting thousands of visitors from across the UAE and abroad.
Volunteers undertook organisational and supervisory duties across event sites, including event management. They also supported security and safety teams, maintenance, public relations and protocol, and content management and media publishing.
Volunteers organised visitor entry and exit, providing necessary facilitation to ensure a smooth and safe experience. Priority was given to people with disabilities and senior visitors attending performances and programmes, reflecting the values of community solidarity and the spirit of volunteerism that distinguish the Emirate of Sharjah.
Hessa Al Hammadi, Director of the Community Cohesion Department, emphasised that the participation of the Sharjah Volunteer Centre in Sharjah Heritage Days aligns with the Sharjah Social Services Department’s vision to enhance volunteer presence in community and cultural events. It aims to promote volunteering as a humanitarian and national value that contributes to serving society and preserving the Emirati identity.
Al Hammadi added: “We take pride in the participation of Sharjah Volunteer Centre volunteers in Sharjah Heritage Days, given the event’s significant role in highlighting the UAE’s cultural heritage and strengthening generational connections to it. During this participation, we witnessed the high sense of responsibility and commitment of the volunteers, as well as their dedication to providing a first-class organisational experience befitting visitors to Sharjah from various nationalities.”
She noted that volunteers contributed by organising event sites, facilitating visitor movement, and supervising heritage programmes. The Department is keen to expand opportunities for specialised volunteering in events that serve culture and heritage, fostering a sense of belonging and national identity among community members while providing volunteers with practical opportunities to develop skills and gain experience in event organisation and management.
This participation reflects the Sharjah Volunteer Centre’s commitment to strengthening community partnerships and supporting national events, cementing the role of volunteers as partners in community and cultural development. Their contributions help ensure the success of Sharjah Heritage Days, one of the Emirate’s premier annual events, offering rich programmes that celebrate Emirati heritage in contemporary ways, attracting audiences and enriching their experience.
