Sharjah24: Sharjah Sports Council has announced the launch of the new edition of its Ramadan programme, “Sport Before Iftar”, which began on 18 February and will run until 16 March. Activities will take place at various locations across Sharjah, catering to different interests, hobbies and age groups.

Multiple venues for men and families
Designated venues for men include Al Majaz Amphitheatre, Al Qarayen 5 Park, Al Azra Park, Al Rifaa Park, Kshisha Park, Linear Park, the Officers Club, Al Suyoh Family Park, Al Heerah Corniche, Sharjah National Park, and the park at Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park.

Dedicated spaces for women
Women participants will be welcomed at Green Belt Park, Shaghrafa Park, Al Houma Park and Al Suyoh Park, in addition to a number of sports and specialised clubs across the emirate.

Weight-loss challenge to promote healthy lifestyles
In cooperation with several fitness centres, the council will also organise a sports competition encouraging participants to lose weight, based on periodic measurements. Winners will be determined according to the healthiest and most ideal weight-loss percentages.

Officials highlight community impact
His Excellency Mohammed Obaid Al Hosan, Secretary-General of the Sharjah Sports Council, stressed the importance of the annual Ramadan programme, noting that it has become both a habit and a culture for a large segment of the emirate’s residents. This, he said, reflects its continued success and the strong engagement it receives.
He also extended thanks to the supporting and collaborating entities, including Sharjah Police, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Sharjah City Municipality and Sharjah Government Media Bureau, for their role in organising and delivering the programme’s activities.
