The evening was presented by Dr Ali Al Sharif from Al Qasimia University, who welcomed the attendees and expressed his deepest gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his support and patronage of literature and culture. He said: “On this evening, we can only offer our sincere thanks and profound appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, and its wise leader, the patron of creativity and creators, who has made Sharjah a beacon of science and knowledge, and a welcoming space where literature meets thought, and where free expression and beautiful poetry flourish.”
The readings began with poet Sheikha Al Mutairi, who delved into Emirati folk heritage, invoking the poet Salma bint Al Majdi bin Thahir and drawing from her spirit of defiance and poetry.
In another poem, she resonated with her surroundings, embodying the sorrows of a tea seller, using him as a symbol of human suffering. This was in her poem "Tea Seller."
Following her, Palestinian poet Mahmoud Saleh recited several poems distinguished by their high-quality linguistic and rhetorical craftsmanship, in addition to their intellectual content.
The readings concluded with Syrian poet Fatih Al Bayoush, whose poems covered a variety of themes. His poem "Mirror of Revelation," overflowing with longing for Damascus, expressed this yearning.
At the end of the evening, poet Mohammed Al Breiki honoured the participants and the evening's host.
