Sharjah 24: Al Dhaid Municipality has shut down an unlicensed food storage site operating from a warehouse in the industrial area after inspectors uncovered serious violations that posed a direct risk to public health.

The operation, carried out by the Public Health Department’s Food Control Section, forms part of ongoing efforts to tighten food safety standards and protect consumers across the city.

Field inspectors discovered that the site was storing large quantities of food in unsatisfactory conditions, showing a complete disregard for approved storage practices and fundamental hygiene requirements. Officials reported widespread dirt, along with clear signs of insect and rodent infestation inside the warehouse.

More than 13 tonnes of unfit food
Authorities confiscated and destroyed around 13.17 tonnes of food deemed unfit for human consumption. The municipality said the items had deteriorated due to improper storage and exposure to high temperatures.

The Public Health Department confirmed that inspection campaigns will continue across all food establishments, urging operators to comply fully with health and safety regulations to safeguard the well-being of the public.
