The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration in developing climate-neutral real estate suitable for desert environments and to exchange expertise on advanced technologies that enhance energy efficiency, support sustainable construction, and promote carbon-neutral building practices. Discussions also explored how Dutch innovation in green technologies and financing can contribute to the development of next-generation sustainable buildings in Sharjah.
The delegation was welcomed by Sheikh Saud bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, CEO of the Real Estate Sector at Sharjah Asset Management, and Ibrahim Al Houti, Chief Officer – Executive Office, along with senior officials. The visiting delegation included Kenza Targaat, Deputy Consul General, and representatives of the “Climate Neutral Real Estate Gulf Region” programme, a public-private partnership comprising twelve Dutch companies specialised in sustainable building solutions.
Sheikh Saud bin Mohammed Al Qasimi highlighted that hosting the delegation represents a significant step in enhancing international cooperation in sustainable real estate: “This visit offers broad opportunities to exchange knowledge with one of the world’s leading countries in green technologies. Sharjah Asset Management remains committed to adopting global best practices that support a low-carbon future and contribute to building an urban environment that prioritises energy efficiency and resource preservation,” he said.
During the meeting, both sides discussed frameworks for joint efforts in climate-neutral development, including adopting advanced sustainability standards, implementing innovative energy-saving technologies, and promoting high-efficiency building designs. The discussions align with the UAE’s strategic goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050 and reinforce Sharjah’s commitment to embedding sustainable development principles into future real estate projects.
