Sharjah24: Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Chief of Sharjah Ruler’s Office in Khorfakkan, crowned on Sunday, December 14, the UAE national team as winners of the Outdoor Badminton World Cup – National Teams Relay Race, marking a major global achievement after defeating China in the tournament final.
Abdulmalik Jani praised the success of the championship, commending the gracious patronage of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, as well as the strong public turnout. He expressed his appreciation to the organising committee members for their efforts, and extended thanks to sponsors, supporting entities, volunteers, and media representatives for their role in the tournament’s success. Souvenir gifts were also presented to all participating countries.
The winners were crowned by Mohammed Obaid Al Hossan, Secretary General of the Sharjah Sports Council, Abdulmalik Jani, Noura Al Jasmi, representatives of the International Federation, Noura Al Darmaki from Shurooq – Khorfakkan Beach, and Bakheet Saeed Al Qerresh, Tournament Director.
The closing ceremony was attended by Engineer Adel Saleh Al Hammadi, member of the Sharjah Sports Council, Salem Al Naqbi, Chairman of Khorfakkan Club, and Xian Yi, Deputy Consul General of the People’s Republic of China to the UAE. Organising committee members and officials from various committees were also honoured for their contributions.
The ceremony also recognised sponsors and partners, including the Badminton World Federation, UAE Badminton Federation, Sharjah Police, Shurooq, Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (Sharjah Sports Channel), Sharjah Airport, Khorfakkan Municipality, BEEAH, Khorfakkan Cultural and Sports Club, Sharjah National Hotels (Oceanic Hotel & Resort), Sharjah Institute for Heritage, and Big Show Company.
