Sharjah 24: Kalba Cooperative Society for Fishermen participated in the 23rd Sharjah Heritage Days as part of its ongoing efforts to preserve Emirati maritime heritage and enhance its presence in the cultural and social landscape. The Society showcased aspects of the authentic maritime heritage that formed a cornerstone of Kalba's history and contributed to strengthening national identity.

Comprehensive educational experience

The Society offered visitors a comprehensive educational experience about traditional fishing practices and the maritime tools used by their ancestors, highlighting the values associated with this profession and its role in supporting the social and economic life of the local community.

As part of its awareness-raising role, the Society organised a visit to the University of Kalba for students and interested individuals. During the visit, the history of traditional fishing in the region was presented, along with an introduction to its techniques, emphasising the importance of preserving maritime heritage as an integral part of cultural and social identity.

It is worth mentioning that these efforts come with the support of the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority, which is keen to support fishermen’s associations in the emirate and encourage their presence in cultural and community events, in order to promote maritime heritage and consolidate its values.
