SCC committee reviews Family Health Promotion Centre services

The visit was part of the third parliamentary session of the eleventh legislative term and the committee's efforts to monitor the state of health and social services and assess the roles of institutions concerned with promoting community health in the emirate.

The committee was chaired by Dr Ruqaya Rashid Al Zaabi, Head of the Committee, and included members Dr Hind Saleh Al Hajri, Rapporteur of the Committee, and members Issa Abdulrahim Al Zarouni, Ali Salem Khater Al Shamsi, and Fatima Mohammed Khusouni Al Ketbi. Also present from the General Secretariat of the Council were Sumaya Jassim Mohammed and Abdullah Al Sufi.

They were received at the centre by Dr Amira Al Khaja, Director of Primary Healthcare in Sharjah; Dr Fatima Al Sahi, Family Medicine Consultant; Dr Safaa Farid, Family Medicine Specialist; and Houria Al Dhaheri, Administrative Officer at the Family Health Promotion Centre.

Supporting family and community health

During the visit, the committee members received a comprehensive briefing on the Family Health Promotion Centre's mission and its role in providing preventive, curative, and awareness services that contribute to supporting family and community health, promoting mental and physical well-being, and implementing programs in family counseling and health education.

The visit included an exchange of views on ways to further develop the health and social services provided, and the presentation of several future initiatives and ideas aimed at improving performance quality and enhancing integration among public health and social work entities.

Touring the centre

The committee members also toured the general clinics, observing the workflow, patient reception procedures, and service organisation, and listening to the observations and opinions of the medical and administrative staff in the various departments. The committee members praised the efforts made at the centre, and the diversity of health and social services it offers, and the regularity in providing them, which contributes to facilitating access to services for visitors, and reflects the centre’s commitment to providing comprehensive health care that takes into account the needs of the family and supports the quality of life in the Emirate of Sharjah.
