Engineer Ahmed Khamis Al Naqbi revealed that the department has achieved significant milestones over the past decade, including the completion of 111 parks, ranging from public parks to neighbourhood gardens, all equipped with the latest play areas and safety standards.

In a pioneering initiative, the department has also introduced recreational service facilities in vital areas, including parks adjacent to the “Friday Market,” to provide a safe environment for children while their family’s shop.

Expanding social infrastructure

Al Naqbi explained in statements to “Sharjah 24” that the department continues its efforts to develop social infrastructure by establishing specialised facilities in cooperation with relevant entities. These include 17 child centres, 8 youth centres, 4 women’s clubs, and 2 girls’ centres.

Sustainable and child-friendly standards

He also pointed out that the department, through its Research and Studies Office, has issued a dedicated guide on green building standards.
