The initiative included organising a Qur’an memorisation and adhkar (supplications) competition, reflecting the council’s commitment to strengthening faith-based values and reinforcing the connection with the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The initiative aligns with community efforts to support programmes that strengthen the role of the family and promote authentic values within the framework of the Year of Family.
The initiative was organised in cooperation with the Department of Islamic Affairs – Dibba Al Hisn Branch, and sponsored by the Sharjah Charity Association – Dibba Al Hisn Branch. It aimed to encourage members of the community to memorise the Qur’an, regularly recite adhkar, and instil religious values among younger generations, while strengthening the family’s role in nurturing children and motivating them to uphold Islamic identity and moral values.
The competition targeted various segments of society, including parents and youth, senior citizens, individuals with learning difficulties and people with disabilities, in addition to the “Little Bilal” category for the call to prayer (adhan) and the adhkar category. The initiative reflected the inclusive nature of community engagement and its commitment to involving all groups in meaningful Qur’anic activities.
The initiative witnessed notable engagement since its launch, with 57 participants from different categories. At the closing ceremony, 23 winners were honoured in recognition of their excellence. All participants were also recognised and encouraged to continue their journey in memorising the Qur’an and maintaining regular remembrance (adhkar).
The awards ceremony was attended by Ahmed Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Council; Dr Ali Al Salami, Director of the Sharjah Charity Association – Dibba Al Hisn Branch; Suleiman Al Makhzoumi, Director of the Department of Islamic Affairs – Dibba Al Hisn Branch; council members; and a large number of parents.
The event was held in a spiritual atmosphere filled with pride in the achievements of the participants, reflecting strong family and community cohesion and highlighting the vital role of families in supporting their children and encouraging them to adhere to religious values and maintain a strong connection with the Holy Qur’an.
The competition committee affirmed that the initiative successfully attracted various segments of society and strengthened their participation in Qur’anic programmes. It noted that the strong turnout reflects the community’s awareness of the importance of such initiatives in building a conscious generation committed to religious and moral values.
The initiative concluded by extending thanks and appreciation to the supporters and sponsors from the community, particularly the Sharjah Charity International– Dibba Al Hisn Branch, the official sponsor, in recognition of their role in the success of the initiative and their support for community programmes that contribute to building a cohesive and interconnected society.
