Sharjah24: The Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation implemented a package of humanitarian projects and initiatives as part of its Ramadan campaign “Zakki” aimed at supporting fatherless children and their families. This comes within its approach of transforming zakat into sustainable empowerment pathways that enhance their quality of life and family stability.

Among the campaign’s key initiatives was the Iftar project, which benefited 314 registered families. The project aims to meet families’ needs during Ramadan by providing Iftar meals, enabling children and their families to experience the spiritual atmosphere of the holy month in a spirit of tranquility and family cohesion. It also reflects the values of social solidarity that distinguish the community and strengthens cooperation among supporting entities.

Appreciation for supporting partners

Mona bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the Foundation, stated: “At the conclusion of the ‘Zakki’ Ramadan campaign, the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to all supporting and participating entities. Their generous cooperation and sincere efforts have had a significant impact on the success of the campaign’s projects and initiatives, bringing joy to the hearts of the children and their families. This reflects the spirit of giving and solidarity that characterises the UAE community and supports the continuation of humanitarian initiatives that contribute to supporting and bringing happiness to beneficiaries while reinforcing the values of cohesion and unity.”

Over 23 years of zakat management experience

Al Suwaidi added that the “Zakki” campaign is built on more than 23 years of experience in managing zakat funds through a clear and transparent methodology. The Foundation seeks to create a lasting impact that goes beyond immediate support, aiming to build a stable environment that enables fatherless children and their families to continue their lives with confidence and security through diverse empowerment programmes covering all aspects of life.

Ramadan empowerment nights initiative

As an extension of the campaign, the Foundation implemented the “Ramadan Empowerment Nights” initiative, which included a series of interactive activities and events bringing together nearly 40 girls registered with the Foundation in a joyful Ramadan atmosphere. The initiative provided a unique social experience that added a renewed sense of participation and engagement, while enhancing happiness and fostering closer interaction between the children and the Foundation’s team.

Eid gifts for children

In conjunction with the approach of Eid Al Fitr, the Foundation distributed Eid gifts to 60 children among its beneficiaries. This humanitarian initiative aimed to bring joy and happiness to their hearts and share in their Eid celebrations, reflecting the Foundation’s commitment to supporting children and strengthening their sense of care and belonging during this special occasion.

Sustained humanitarian impact

The Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation concludes its “Zakki” Ramadan campaign by reinforcing its sustainable humanitarian impact, affirming its mission to transform giving into empowerment pathways that create a more stable future for children and their families, with a positive impact that extends beyond the holy month of Ramadan.
